Project Description:
AMESBURY- NEWBURYPORT- SALISBURY- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT ON ROUTE I-95, A-07-016=N-11-007, OVER MERRIMACK RIVER (WHITTIER BRIDGE) & A-07-017 OVER EVANS PLACE
The existing 6-lane bridge will be replaced with a new 8 lane structure matching the existing 8-lane roadway cross section to the south. The bridge will remain open to traffic throughout construction. The project commences just north of the I-95/SR 113 (Storey Ave.) interchange in Newburyport and continues to just north of the I-495 interchange. Total length of project (add-a-lane) is approximately 3.27miles. The overall project is approximately 4.0 miles in length. The design shall be such as to stay as close to the existing highway and bridge envelope as possible so as to have a minimal impact on the existing right-of-way and environment.
