Project Description:
NEEDHAM- RECONSTRUCTION OF HIGHLAND AVENUE, FROM WEBSTER STREET TO THE NEEDHAM/NEWTON LINE
The purpose of widening Highland Avenue is to provide two lanes in each direction. Exclusive left-turn lanes are proposed at the Second Avenue signalized intersection. A sidewalk is proposed for the entire length of the project along both sides of Highland Avenue. Bicycles will be accommodated with a minimum width curb lane on both sides of Highland Avenue. A new traffic signal will be installed and the existing traffic signal systems will be upgraded to improve the level of service. The design and construction of these improvements are required for the increased traffic volumes associated with the future growth of the Town of Needham.
