WHERE:

Great Hall
Town Hall
525 Washington Street
Wellesley, MA

WHEN:

October 27, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Cedar Street over Route 9 Bridge Replacement project. All views and comments made at the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

PROPOSAL:

The proposed project consists of the replacement of the superstructure and the center pier of the Cedar Street Bridge over Route 9. In replacing the superstructure the cedar street profile will be raised to accommodate the required vertical clearance over Route 9 of 15 feet. To facilitate construction while maintaining vehicular and pedestrian traffic the final bridge width will be increased to four traffic lanes with sidewalks on both sides. The work also includes the reconstruction of about 430 linear feet of Cedar Street and about 250 linear feet of Worcester Road and other incidental work. The Cedar Street/Worcester Road intersection will have new traffic signals. Adequate access to abutting property will be maintained during construction.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassHighway's policy concerning land acquisitions will be discussed at this hearing.
