Right of Way

The MassHighway Right of Way Bureau (ROW Bureau) is responsible for securing and managing all property and rights in land required for the highway road and bridge program. These responsibilities include:

• Performing preliminary ROW investigations and title studies
  
  
• Appraising property and establishing the fair market value of property to be acquired as a result of the highway project
  
  
• Acquiring property and rights or interests in land necessary for the highway project
  
  
• Meeting with property owners to discuss the settlement of their land damage case
  
  
• Functionally replacing certain properties and assisting in the relocation of displaced persons
